Almost its 100th birthday..
Standing at twilight in the Railway Station Garden... in the distance right hand side is the reserve Possum Park.
A news item 3 May 1886 in the Sydney Morning Herald reported The South Australian portion of "the intercolonial railway" to Bordertown was opened on 1 May. The Chief Parliamentary Secretary (the Hon JC Bray) speaking from a train carriage to "the populace"of Bordertown declared the line open and proposed a toast "Success to the Bordertown Railway".
The original station burned down and was repaired. In 1909 a petition was being got up to request a new station.
The Daily Herald published in Adelaide reported on 6 July 1914 that work had commenced on the new railway station. When finished the station would be "the finest in the State".
