Ancient Graves

Another early start, this time to pay respect to my ancestors on my father's side. Lots of familiar faces at the modern cemetery, golden paper money, incense, fireworks in the daytime to ward off evil spirits and finally, we got here. So my great grandparents are still buried in their original turtle shell-like graves (many were dug up and cremated as mountains had to be moved to make room for new roads and apartments) so it was quite a trek to get here. Our group of 15ish relatives somehow trekked up the mountain and were able to find the right graves. Burned ALOT of paper money and I even got to repaint the characters on the tombstone. Really felt like part of the family! A great cultural learning experience.
