What a privilege!

On Saturday, March 29, I sat in awe in the huge Zorlu Center Theatre listening to Jose Carreras. Although time has taken its toll on the subtlety and grace of his voice, it has lost nothing of its power, and his delivery is as passionate as ever. Photographs were, of course, forbidded, so this ticket will have to suffice, and let me assure you that he is still gorgeous!
Musically, his young Turkish co-star, Simge Büyükedes, was a perfect delight. She has a rippling, liquid mezzo voice, and a beautiful stage presence.
Once again, I saw a Turkish colleague at this event. I sometimes wonder what all we might find in common if only a language barrier did not separate us...
