Miles without styles - The Old Railway Line
Keswick Station closed in 1979 (opened 1865). It was an integral part of the 18 mile Penrith - Cockermouth line and has been made into a footpath.
This featured in the 'miles without styles' footpath booklet the Mrs B and I got to help us adventure with Little B. We managed a proportion of the 3 mile stretch to Threlkeld and turned back.
It was a fantastic walk with stunning scenery. It flirts with the River Greta brilliantly and crosses it a number of times on well renovated railway bridges (as seen in the photo).
The Keswick railway station has been charmingly turned into a hotel with the WCs still signed appropriately. I recommend to anyone in the area!
Little B is going swimming for the first time tomorrow! Very exciting!
