The Birks O' Aberfeldy
"Now simmer blinks on flow'ry braes
And o'er the crystal streamlet plays
Come, let us spend the lightsome days
In the birks of Aberfeldy" Robert Burns
This part of the country is certainly blessed with some unparalleled beauty! Once again we were lucky with the weather and the sun came out as we made our way up through the birks beside the rushing torrent of water. I have never seen such an abundance of wild garlic! It was growing in huge swathes by the banks (you can see it in the photo) K and I picked some to use in our cooking. Before doing the walk we spent 2 hours in the Watermill cafe in Aberfeldy having a long lunch (amazing food!) and browsing through the bookshop and gallery.
