Highly toxic, but oh so beautiful!

Creating a new garden on almost pure sand, I couldn't grow alpines, the Pasque Flower being my absolute favourite. I bought a limestone trough last year and planted several alpine plants, including this Pasque Flower. This morning I watched it dry from the last two days rain and open in the early morning sun. I am so pleased with this delightful plant, it seems happy in its home. They tend to flower early in the Spring, which leads to the common name Pasque Flower, since Pasque refers to Easter (Passover).
