My Best Efforts - Year 3

By AMC

A Great Start to the Day.........

..........taken at approximately 06.30 hours. It isn't half as nice now - there is sun but some very threatening dark clouds too. Hard cropping as I am sure you don't want to see a bit of roof and a TV aerial!!

My new neighbour has a rain gauge and has just told me there has been 7mm of rain since yesterday morning.

A little story about his gauge - it is in the form of a small concrete dog holding a cone. He put it on his tiny lawn about 10 days ago. Now it is a habit of mine to walk to the garden gate just before I go to bed (which is usually rather late!) - to get a breath of fresh air and see what the weather is doing. The first night I saw his gauge, it was very late and very dark and I thought it was a small cat or other creature so there was me waving my stick around and trying to shush it away. It didn't move - came in and got a torch and realised what it was!! No wonder it didn't move - when I told my neighbour the next morning, he had a real laugh!!

As there was such a lovely sky early this morning, I thought my BOUI should be about the connection between it and the weather!

1) Evening red and morning grey are sure signs of a fine day. Evening grey and morning red, put on your hat or you'll wet your head.

2) Mackerel sky, mackerel sky, never long wet, never long dry.

3) Rain from the south prevents the drought, but rain from the west is always best.

4) Anvil-shaped clouds bring on a gale.

Anni is on her way into the mountains again - as she is riding shotgun, she was unable to smuggle me this time! (my Blips of the 13th/14th March) She is travelling with another person who is not one of her favourites!

Have a good day everyone!
