Twisted
Our corkscrew hazel in all its glory, dripping with catkins, still naked contorted branches forming a striking silhouette, planted twenty years ago and still a favourite specimen plant in the Spring garden. It survives happily the hacking off of various bits at this time of year to hang the painted Easter eggs we bought in Prague many years ago. I discovered recently that its common name is Harry Lauder's walking stick. Really?? I don't think that is how I'd ever describe it!
