Rainbow over Dunoon Pier
What a thrill to be in the right place at the right time. We'd just climbed the steps to the flagpole above Dunoon when the most glorious rainbow emerged. I like the water movement of the passenger ferry mirroring the arc in the sky.
The pier was built in 1835, and used to be a regular stop off point for travellers going "Doon the Watter" on the Waverley Paddle Steamer.
We nearly cancelled our planned holiday due to my illness, but I had a better sleep last night and took it slowly this morning. Dreich drive down to Gourock and then the ferry to Hunter's Quay.
Spoiled for choice, as you could have had a ship passing the Cloch LIghthouse, or a vintage transport plane swooping low over the ferry with the mighty mountains of Argyll beyond.
