Hanseatic Booth, Symbister, Whalsay
In my continuing quest to uncover interesting sheds/shacks/booths, I offer you the Hanseatic Booth at Symbister on Whalsay.
The Hanseatic traders were a big deal for Shetland prior to the Act of Union in 1707, an early Europe Common Market? There are several examples of booths dotted around the islands, and I've been meaning to get to this one for a while.
I struggled to find a camera angle that gave a sense of the eccentric shape of this building without pointing the camera directly into the sun, and without falling into the harbour.
