Unfurling

Last spring, I took a few photos of some acers in the local park. They have really unusual pink leaves, and they are one of the earliest trees to start to put out leaves.

I didn't manage to get them at quite such an early stage last year, but I'm pretty sure they are at least a couple of weeks ahead of last year. This was what they looked like toward the end of April '13.

I took another photo, and couldn't decide which I preferred. Here's the other on Flickr. Did I choose the right one?
