Wham bam thank you Dam

After a couple of false starts in the last year the work to remove Hurst Reservoir is now well underway.

Its been a special place for me as it is close to home and an area I have photographed and returned bird sighting reports to the British Trust for Ornithological over many years.

Its going to be interesting to see what happens in the future. United Utilities notice about the work shows what they hope it will look like in 5 years time and they are committed to caring for the re-landscaped area for at least 15 years.

At present there is no access beyond the dam wall and I think there will be pressure to restrict access in the future which may be good for wildlife and the dog walkers will have to find somewhere else. I will watch from afar if that's what happens.
