Shopping for lavender

Biked down to B&Q to get some lavender for the garden; looking at bikes now note that F's needs a splash of grease on her chain. Hope it grows well in Manchester; lavender was the only thing I planted in my Patagonian garden last year that didn't take, which is odd as it grows wild there. Maybe it's a yin/yang acid/alkali thing?
