My topsy-turvy life

By Rathmandu

That hurt!

Yep, I definitely paid the price for doing Parkrun yesterday.
That and deciding that I'd, "Just go for it" today at the Ironbridge half marathon.

I absolutely flew through the first 7-8 -mainly downhill- miles but then hit the big hill at 8 and started to suffer, the long drag back up to Telford feeling very long, and very slow indeed. Oh well, better preparation next time maybe.
It's actually a nice little route, all on tarmac and trail paths (apart from a small stretch just after the Ironbridge itself) and I'll definitely do it again, I have a score to settle. I was so knackered at the end that I couldn't bring myself to try and get any kind of picture, hence the post-race and post-shower medal and T shirt shot.

I did get a nice surprise at around mile 9 though with a shout of, "Go on Paul!", I turned around confused but wasn't 100% sure who it was. Turns out it was my cousin. Glad she didn't see me a couple of miles further on...

One problem with doing this race this year was that I had to miss the Everton Arsenal game. Just my luck! I've been to loads of trouncings and then miss the one that we hand out.

Ironbridge half: 1:36:39
