150 Quilt Stories

Last day for the Quilt Guild's annual show - and it was beautifully done. This year I think more large quilts were entered and they were hung, therefore, higher up the walls, so that when you walked in, you were surrounded with pattern and colours! The one I've chosen to show you is a smaller trial panel before the larger one was undertaken. I like it better than the larger size because this one has autumn foliage, more blues, and (I think) a more menacing wave. This is entitled "Before" depicting a Japanese landscape moments before the 2011 tsunami hit. It is reminiscent of the Hokusai woodblock print of a wave. Unfortunately, it was hung too high to photograph well, but liked the smaller size better anyway.
Another favorite was a full sized "Joseph's Fabulous Technicolor coat" - stunning details, a riot of colours! It is a "feel good !" coat, for sure, and was actually used in a theatre production of the same name.
Even thumbnails couldn't capture the entire show, altho I could have tried - so many beauties to chose from.
