Day 6: Bottom - the weaver-tradesman in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’

"I grant you, friends, if that you should fright the ladies out of their wits, they would have no more discretion but to hang us..." — Bottom, Act I Scene 2

THE BOTTOM LINE

Gents, please listen to me closely
Though I promise to repeat.
If you want to win us over
JUST PUT DOWN THE GODDAMN SEAT.

Yes, we really truly love you
And we like the way you’re built,
But in case you hadn’t noticed
We are different ‘neath the kilt.

I would love to do it standing
Though I shouldn’t have to say
I’m a setter, not a pointer,
Like as not to stay that way.

Sure, your mothers must have taught you.
Sure, your wives don’t like to nag.
Just remember as you’re flushing
And we’ll even let you brag.

Women strangers will adore you
And your life will be so sweet
If you’ll only mind your manners
AND PUT DOWN THE GODDAMN SEAT.

It was so-o-o-o satisfying to get this bottom line issue off my chest.
Forewarned is forearmed.

And I even got some work done on my novel.
