Training has begun
In 111 days, we'll be leaving for England and our Coast to Coast walk. We are pretty excited to be going on such a grand journey and to spend time together.
The Coast to Coast walk is approximately 200 miles and was devised by Alfred Wainwright, a passionate walker and chronicler of hikes in the Lakes District.
The walk is mostly unsignposted and it skirts three national parks: Lakes District, Yorkshire Dales, and North York Moors. It is traditional for walkers to dip their boots into the Irish sea and then again in the North Sea when the walk has completed.
Somehow the idea of the walk inspired me and it seemed like the perfect journey for Dan and I who are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. In our younger years, we had done some fantastic cycle touring but this time, I wanted to walk.
So why this photo? Dan and I have started walking/hiking in serious preparation for the coast to coast. Today we logged 12 miles even though the weather was less than fair.
This photo was taken at Juanita Bay Park which does not have the loveliest of boardwalks but still allows one to get onto Lake Washington.
