Queen Maeve's Tomb

The tomb is near the summit of Knocknaveagh mountain above Bantry and we hiked up there to get some photos. It's a Bronze Age wedge tomb, partly collapsed with an unsympathetically placed electricity pole spoiling the atmosphere slightly.

I knocked to see if Queen Maeve was at home, but she was either out or having a long snooze after her Sunday lunch.

On the horizon, one of the wind farms that are springing up everywhere. I used to think of them as a majestic example of heroic engineering, but now I think they are probably a folly and we need to get on with building other forms of energy generation. If you need to know more about that, I broadly agree with the more recent views of James Lovelock on the subject.
