The Gauntlet
Hi Tom
Your brother and I took part in out very first muddy race today. It was amazing. It was hard but I loved it.
While we were waiting I saw another girl from our Bootcamp called Koz. She didn't have anyone to run with so she came with us. We stayed together from start to finish.
The course was extremely muddy. There was a part of it where you had to go on your hands and knees. One poor girl got stuck up to her waist in it. Kos had to be plucked out and walk around....that was the worst of it. I did manage it but it was really tough. So today we have climbed walls and haystacks, crawled under numerous nettings, crawled under barbed wire, not sure how many ditches full of mud I've been up and down, jumped over numerous objects, balanced on a beam, swam across a lake...I liked that bit....swam under obstacles in the lake and ran, pulled and crawled through copious amounts of mud. I never walked. I ran the whole way from one obstacle to the other from start to finish. I've hurt my knee, I got stung and I stank like I don't know what....but I did it :).
It was great fun. I couldn't have done it without Nicks help. Pulling me up and giving my bum a push when needed....he was a great support. To be fair everyone supported everyone.
This blip is the three of us in all our glory just about to finish.
I will definitely do another. Nick said he would too. I'm trying get Alex to do one with me. How about you joining me on one when you get back. Dad just wants to stick to what he's good at...running. I can't blame him for that.
Dad was brilliant supporting us today and it was his turn behind the camera.
Took three washes to get the mud and smell out of my hair. But once showered off and smelling much sweeter we headed out for dinner.....and that was rather nice too!
