Louvre, Arc de Triomphe and crepe...
It was all about the arts today. The visit to the Louvre have been very nostalgic. It reminded me of the paintings and sculptures that we studied in Humanities way back in college. I didnt pass the opportunity to find the paintings and sculptures that I remembered studying more than 13 years ago. Of course the Mona Lisa was the first on the list. I also went to find my favourite of all which is the Winged Victory of Samothrace but to my disappointment, it was under restoration and wouldnt be available for viewing until summer of this year according to the information posted. I also went to see The Seated Scribe, The Raft of the Medusa, Liberty Leading the People, The Coronation of Napoleon, Venus de Milo and the very sensual paintings of Madam Recamier and the Grand Odalisque. I knew there were still a lot of paintings and scultures inside that i forgot to visit but I am grand i got to see the most viewed ones. Oh yeah, i just remembered that I forgot to look for the Madonna of the Rocks of Da Vinci, but the museum closed before i realized that.
Tere and I went out of the Louvre and decided to walk along the stretch of Champs Elysees. We didnt regret walking for almost 30mins as we were able to have a good crepe along the way before arriving at our next destination which is the Arc de Triomphe. My crepe which is quite expensive at 5Euros had nutella and banana on it. It was delish!
By the time we got to the Arc, it was almost dark and decided not to go up as we were so tired. We just took photos from the ground while admiring its beauty. And yeah, in one of the barricades in front of the Arc, somebody left cloves of garlic and hung it on the barricades. We were wondering what those were for. And of course the Filipino in us made us think that it was probably used and placed there to ward off manananggals. LOL!
