Rambling Thorn

I decided that I would head in the opposite direction to the other bridges that I had photographed during the week. So I headed towards Grappenhall. My hope was that I might see a barge on the water. I did pass two on the way then, just as I approached Stanney Lunt bridge that takes you in to the village of Grappenhall, this boat appeared.

On this side they have added a footbridge to keep pedestrians separate from the traffic which uses the original bridge. I will photograph it from its better side.

You can see the usual division of labour. Chaps at the back doing the driving, ladies at the pointy end doing the drinking. I got a very self-conscious wave from one of the ladies.
