Reggae Mike, grooving
First I heard the reggae music livening up a rather chilly, drizzly car boot sale in Ross on Wye. Then I saw the multicoloured Transit van, and then the man dancing, grooving indeed, to the gentle beat, enjoying the morning more than anyone else it seemed.
His name was Reggae Mike, he loved the music, was really knowledgeable on the subject, and had turned his old van into a moving tribute and symbol of reggae, inside and out. He seemed to have lived a colourful life, telling me a few hairy moments from his past, but he was perfectly content with his life now, and his music.
Oddly he wasn't selling anything to do with reggae, just the usual bits and pieces found wanting a new home for a few quid. It would have been fun to have bought a reggae CD from a man called Reggae Mike with a reggae van...
