Sold Out
This afternoon we went to Mt Vic Flicks. The normally quiet little cinema was again sold out for the 4th viewing of "The Man From Cox's River" starring our very own Megalong Valley boy, Luke Carlon, and other local identities. If you hadn't pre-booked you could join the queue for unlikely cancellations.
It may have been a low budget documentary, but we thought it the best film we have seen in a long time. There was humour, action, a good story and wonderful cinematography. The portrayal of the people and landscape was completely accurate, unlike some other attempts at "Australiana". The locals did a great job of just playing themselves. No need for any big name actors - or stunt riders.
I will include the write up from the movie flyer below. Good news for those locals who missed it, it is returning in a couple of weeks.
You can view the trailer here.
Luke Carlon grew up taking tourists on horse trips along the Cox's river, a place his family has ridden since the 1820's. All that ended when the river was declared a wilderness area. Now, the National Parks need Luke's help to remove a mob of wild horses from Burragorang Valley, which provides Sydney's water supply, as it can only be accessed on horseback.
