A beautiful sunny day and I didn't have to work. What could be more perfect.. Found a bumble bee on the ground in the back yard. I'd noticed him a few days ago amongst some pots and was surprised to see him again. He was looking very sorry for himself. So I put him up high in a relatively sunny spot so he could warm up! Contemplated a photo but he seemed on his last legs so let that impulse pass me by.
Later I mentioned it in passing to my boyfriend and he suggested putting some honey mixed in water for him. I put it close to him and when I was hanging the washing I noticed he was drinking some. It was so cool to see. It was amazing how he seemed to revive in front of my eyes. After his feast he had a very long wash,again I thought about grabbing my camera but instead chose to enjoy the moment. What incredibly long tongues they have. He didn't fly away but walked very quickly after that injection of sugar. It was really nice to see that sorry looking bee look grand again.
