Howgills Outing

Nine of us headed north to have a play on the Howgills - those slumbering elephantine hills on your right as you head through Cumbria on the M6. The Lake District mountains provide ridges and horseshoes that keep you high after the initial hard climb. The Howgills force you up then down then up..... you get the picture.

Incessant rain and a cold wind with a few niggles among the group resulted in a shorter route than planned and with no sign of a let up in the weather we decided that just under four hours was sufficient fun for the day.

Hazel's our most enthusiastic runner, but even she'd had enough, here she is on the descent to the valley floor. You can see the rain. Still good training in the legs and a bit of stamina gained as well as the craic on the hill - getting on for beer o'clock I think : )
