Leaves of the Blood Lily
The flowers seem to last in the sense they exist for a fair while, however you can see the change in them from Saturday week ago here and here. This is the blip from a week ago.
I spoke of the unusual nature of the leaves of this plant. You can see the leaves emerging out of the bulb here. They will grow very large and overwhelm this space.
It becomes very clear when the flower is damaged by being torn why the flower is called among its various names Blood Flower (Southern Africa). The character of the fresh wound is eerily bloody for a short window of its maturity. Although I had a good fresh wound photo I was so distressed [that the flower was damaged] I discarded the photo and only think in retrospect to show you the drying wound here still shows resemblance to human or animal plasma ... beyond previous experience of any other flower.
A couple of days ago, Paladian blipped this perspective of a street scene with humour. I noticed The Bakery Window today. L*
