Scot Rail get a grip
Woke up to the new alarm clock this morning. Worked well but I think we need to turn the brightness of the sunrise down a bit.
Headed over to the station in the rain so I could take the bike to work and cycle home. Managed to get there early which turned out to be a good thing. The commuter train at 7.18 to Glenrothes, which stops at Rosyth, is only two carriages long. As a result there is only one place to store bikes. This is a small room where the sandwich trolley would normally go I think.
It seems Scot rail think that this is ample space to store bikes on a commuter. Enough for two bikes. I got on and found it empty. By the time we left Waverly station there was another bike in the room and one propped up outside in the corridor. Not great but what else could you do. Another guy had got on and then moved to the other carriage, where I presume he stood in the disabled bit with his bike.
At Haymarket two other bikers wanted to get on but were turned away from the train by the guard, as there was no more room for bikes on the train. They were told to wait the 45 minutes for the next train. WHAT and be late for work. Come on Scot rail get a grip and sort out better carriages.
They do have other versions, which can take more bikes, but they seem not to use them in the morning while people are trying to commute and might actually need the space.
Anyway rant over. Rest of the day was OK and had a good cycle home, best time so far.
A night in to recover I think and catch up on the practice for the Bahrain GP.
