Fritillaria guiccardii
May not be a valid name but that's what it says on the label! Related to the widely grown Snakeshead Fritillary, this fritillaria is rather dull coloured, a trait it shares with many of it's relatives. Not to everyone's taste but I rather like them. Also not to many folks taste is the scent, they're often pollinated by carrion flies in nature, so you can work out what I mean!
The Snakeshead grows happily in the open garden but I only have a few of these so keep them in a pot in the cold frame. It might do outside ... I'll try it when I have a few more.
