Long Service
There are a few of these plaques across Scotland recording the work of council chairs or directors before local government re-organisation in 1975. I see them sometimes when I am in meeting rooms in old Council premises.
This one is in the foyer of Argyll House, Dunoon, now Argyll & Bute Council's Education Offices but formerly the old Argyll County Council Education HQ. I was there for a very good discussion of GIRFEC this morning.
I am also often struck by the long service that was almost the norm two generations ago. For example Mr Henderson , commemorated here , did 25 years as a Director of Education something would be virtually unknown in today's much more mobile world of work.
