Dark-eyed Junco
The North Wind doth blow,
And we shall have snow,
And what will poor Robin do then, poor thing?
"He should have planned better" sniffs my husband, who doesn't like robins.
Pity the picture is of a junco, not a robin, but on the other hand it is appropriate, as juncos have made a sudden appearance at the bird feeder this week. Don't know where they've been hiding all winter - perhaps the current flock is on it's way north. A flock of house finches (or purple finches, can't tell) also arrived, which was nice because they've never visited us before.
But back to the weather... 8-12 inches of snow expected tonight. It's coming down hard as I write, and very beautiful it is too. But the poor old robins are going to go hungry tomorrow.
