horns of wilmington's cow

Shoe In

I do like a new shoe. Walking shoes (rather than boots) for upcoming summer walking (and given I'm in Scotland with a Gore-Tex layer); as well as new work shoes (obviously not these) to replace the worn-leather-soles-and-ridiculously-tired foot adornments I'd been putting up with.

What I really want is a pair of Oxfords from this guy, which are ridiculously expensive (and yes, if you're spending that sort of money you've just got to go for one of the colourful options). I might have found the frivolous thing for the next time I empty my piggy bank (that's actually a cow) into which I deposit my £2 coins. Any that I get. The entire intention is that every now and then I can then treat myself to something that otherwise I probably wouldn't be able to justify. It's perhaps a bit childish, but it's a way of saving that you hardly notice. And from the outset I know it's not for replacement parts for one of the bikes, or something 'useful'. It's just for me. Something not extravagantly thousands of pounds, but enough that paying for it normally would be taking cash from elsewhere. Whereas this, this is about as close as I can get to 'free money' without winning the lottery.

Hmmm. I wonder how much is in there just now?
