Blooming Lovely

Not a clue what this plant is but I liked the deep purple colour, the variegated leaves and the structure of the flowers(or are they bracts?!)
Will try to find out tomorrow and edit this blip, too late to go ferreting in gardening books now.......unless someone can help by naming them :-/
