mud pie

yes I know , it looks like mud but it has clay in it which is of great interest to me as the pottery bug continues apace - I remembered that on the family farm there is a field called clay pits , I think there was a settlement of just a few houses in Saxon times , so today my 86 year old father helped me dig a small hole and try to cut out some odd looking stuff !
I have a lot to do to it : dry it, soak it, sieve it over the course of the next few days and then we ll see what we have ...
