Oilseed rape

Oilseed rape - horrible stuff that give us all hay fever. This is what is now in the field behind our house. I am always amazed by the brightness of the yellow, even on dull days. On some sunny days, if there are storm clouds about, the rape can be almost dazzling. It is usually a fairly even crop with all the plants growing at roughly the same rate, but as you can see there is quite a variation in this lot. There are also large patches which are still green, which I think were the places in the field which spent quite a lot of time underwater during the winter.

It has brightened a very dull day though.
