1-2 The Square, Petersfield.

I was in Petersfield this morning and took this photo.
The prime position of this medieval house indicates its owners' importance in the town of Petersfield. In medieval times it directly overlooked The Square (See my 16th Jan. blip) , with its shambles (individual market stalls), whose owners held the right to vote in Parliamentary elections. Apparently, in 1591 it was occupied by Thomas Osborne, later to become the Mayor of Petersfield.
