Living the high life

I went to see La Grande Bellezza (The Great Beauty) last night. Such an extraordinary film, a slice of life in Rome, focusing on the lives of the rich & bored, on one hand a series of poses & hedonism in assorted forms, on the other hand a brilliant character study, complex & banal, interspersed with sublime & surreal scenes and ethereal music. There are probably as many ways to describe this film as thee are people viewing it!
