Telephone Pole

I've been studying (that's a bit strong--looking at) telephone/cable/electricity poles in my neighborhood from an aesthetic point of view.

Are they ugly? Would I be better off, architecturally, in a newer area where the lines are buried?

I'm thinking of making telephone poles a thing to study photographically. From my home to work, I go in a couple miles from neighborhoods with lines on poles to ones where the lines are buried.
