MAPLE TIME

This is a dreadful specimen but I have my reasons for wanting to record it. It is ACER ESK 'SUNSET'.

1. It is my favourite maple.
2. It is my newest maple.
3. It was the most expensive maple.

It has taken several years to track this one down; my lovely Lyn spotted it at a nursery in Tapanui, on 3rd September, 2012. She rang & told me, I gulped at the price, but, picking myself up off the floor, said buy it. The leaves are strongly mottled pink in the Spring, & as the season progresses, the undersides turn a lovely fetching burgundy. In the maple world, Esk Sunset stands supreme. She is a Dame !
