It Means Nothing
Day 3: Managed to avoid any altercations with my colleagues today, due to my raised stress levels as I have went cold turkey with the cigarettes for a week. To be honest I never really noticed much of a change at all. Non smoking techniques for the week that I have applied are, the cheese and toast supper, before going to bed I would normally have a fag oot the back with a cup of tea. Now I have cheese and toast with salt and a good helping of pepper, mmm mmm mmm, its the dogs, also add a couple of biscuits for good measure. Post evening dinner is desert rather than a tab plus more tea and biscuits. I think there might be a slight weight gain this week.
Tomorrow, is day 2 out of 3, of my Wednesdays off before Christmas the reason I chose Wednesdays is because I have loads on a Friday and a Monday to do so just went for the middle of the week. When I think about it now though I wish I just said bugger it and had a long weekend off, it kinda knocked me a bit last week as when it came to Friday it felt like a Tuesday and I really had to convince myself that I could have that bottle of wine!
'It Means Nothing'
Its a song by the Stereophonics and I have heard it a couple of times recently, apparently its got something to do with the London bombings on the tube and on the bus.
My brother was living in London and he was working in the City at that time and still does to this day. I just remember the chaos as we heard stuff on the radio in my old office here in Scotland, there were a couple of us trying to get in touch with people we knew. However, the mobile phone system wasnt working and nobody could get in touch which added to the confusion (I dont know if this is true as it is my assumption, the reason there was no mobile phones working was due to the Madrid bombs had been detonated by remote control using mobile phones. So if you switch of the networks you cant explode any bombs. Thats my theory on that. Could be completely wrong of course.). The next best thing to do was to ring home, hoping that Dave had phoned my folks and he was alright. Unfortunately, he hadnt and I spent the next half an hour convincing my mum that Dave worked in a different part of London (I hadnt the foggiest where he was, but its what you have to do) and that he would be fine.
2 hours after starting phone calls trying see if my brother was alright I finally got a call from my mum saying that he had got in touch and that he had been sent home for the day from work. All public transport had been cancelled though so he had a long walk back to his house. The good news for us was that we got the phone call that we had been waiting for. Unfortunately, that story isnt the same for everybody.
