Tusitala

Tusitala is a restaurant and bar not too far away from where we live. We met some very good friends there for lunch. The food is superb value, and the portions are huge.

Tusitala was the name used by the Samoan people for the writer Robert Louis Stevenson, who was born in Edinburgh and lived the last four years of his life in Samoa. It's a word in the Samoan language which means "writer of stories".

This gigantic pizza was mine. It's a wood fired Chicago Deli - salami, ham, pepperoni, chilli beef, tomato and mozzarella - with an extra topping of black olives. It was fabulous, but just too big for me to finish it.

The only negative comment I'd make is that the choice of draught beer they offer in the bar is awful - it's all fizzy, mass-marketed rubbish. And there's nowhere else nearby to go for something better. Luckily, though, there wasn't very much space left for beer...
