New territory

Out with the U3A today in order to learn a new walk. It was a lovely warm and sunny day and we parked near the court buildings and followed the Stour Valley Way from Canterbury to Fordwich, once a port but now silted up. The track was the route along which ox carts carried Caen stone for the cathedral. We entered Fordwich Church, now redundant but being redecorated by a Church conservation body. An unusual feature is this bread shelf where thanks to a generous parishioner bread was placed for any needy villager to help themselves.
