An Edinburgh Tram..
I was shopping in Edinburgh today, and saw this tram sitting at a stop at St Andrews Square. I won't get into the controversy as to whether the years of disruption and cost will be worth it, but it is a least positive to be seeing the results of the last few years.
The 14km tram route will run from Edinburgh Airport all the way to York Place in the city centre. Along the route are 15 tram stops, connecting passengers with bus and rail services and shopping and commuter destinations.
It is now only a few weeks until they will be operational. I think the start date will be sometime in May 2014, but I not sure precisely when.
This tram is one of a number out testing and shadow running the route timetable. Travelling the full tram route is expected to take around 35 minutes. Exact timings will be known following the current test period. (Although the shadow running is taking place without passengers getting on and off, which I'd guess might be a factor).
