Ear Screening #Zanzibar

Children in Zanzibar are having their ears screened for any early signs of hearing loss. They have also been learning about avoidable hearing impairment and how to care for their ears.

Pupils who are identified as having hearing difficulties through our screening programme receive on the spot treatment or, with more serious cases are referred for further medical care. Teachers often report back to us that once pupils have been treated and can hear clearly, their concentration and attention improves in class!

In Zanzibar IMPACT works in 192 schools training School Health Monitors and teachers to check children for the early signs of disability and ill health. Further treatment and surgery is provided for those with health problems.
