The Rise Of The Mary River Turtle

The Mary River turtle, Elusor macrurus, is an endangered short-necked turtle that inhabits the Mary River network in South-East Queensland, Australia.Captured and sold as pets in the 1960s and 70s, an estimated 150,000 disappeared which resulted in them almost completely dying out.

It's delightful, then to see more and more of these in Maleny's river each time I return. This one was sunbathing on a rock just along from Woolworth's Supermarket in the centre of town this morning.

This evening an interseting moth landed on the table outdoors. Have a look in my Blipfolio HERE.
