My friend from high school days, Buzz, is a long distance cyclist.

More than that, he is an accomplished tri-athlete.

His is quite a story of illness and recovery against all odds.

He has honored me by inviting me to join him on the first leg of his America by Bicycle trip across the USA.

In June of 2015 he will begin his ride from Astoria, Oregon, finishing in Portsmouth, New Hampshire 50 days later.

I hope to join him on a ride from Astoria, Oregon to Boise, Idaho (644 miles).

The serious training for my small portion of his epic ride began last Sunday.

I hope to ride my first century the third week of July.
