Sochi Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I think we did ok on our accomodations during the Olympics. Those are the fireworks from the Opening Ceremonies - taken from the deck of our cruise ship (aka hotel). We were a little concerned that we got the ship in Adler for the Sochi Olympics - turns out the Olympics aren't in Sochi. We were also mildly concerned that there wouldn't actually BE a ship here at all.

We made the rather large mistake of deciding that we could walk from the hotel to the ship. I think the scale on the map is wrong. It was 6 miles. We walked most of it. Then there was a little adventure where an old woman decided to help us navigate - she spoke no English, and my tiny bit of Russian was not sufficient. She jabbered on the entire time until she found a couple other people to help us. They collectively spoke about as much English as I do Russian. They 'borrowed' the town bus to drop us off near the cruise ship.

I think we will do just fine here!
