Voltaire Class 92 loco

The class 92′s are a 46 strong fleet of Dual Voltage Electric locomotives, they are able to work on the 740 volt DC 3rd rail system in the South of England or the more common 25000 volt AC overhead electric system. The 46 Class 92′s were built between 1993 and 1996 specifically for use on services between Britain and France via the Channel Tunnel.

Although 46 of this class were built, there isn't enough work for them all, with a number stored having not moved in years, whilst others are cycled in and out of service on a regular basis. The majority of the fleet are still in their original fleet livery of Railfreight 2 tone Grey, although the new DB Schenker red livery is starting to be applied, whilst 1 locomotive is in EWS livery and the other is in Stobart Livery.

The majority of the class 92 loco's are named after writers or composers on this loco your can see the three rings depicting the channel tunnel connection, chunnel logo and at the rear Crewe international logo seen running by Acton Bridge station with empty car transporters behind her
