The Suffolk Trinity
Originally known as the Suffolk Showground and now Trinity Park, the name derives from three native breeds to Suffolk - the Suffolk Punch, Red Poll Cattle and the Suffolk Sheep. In 2004 Harriet Mead, sculptress, was commissioned to produce, in steel, these life size sculptures of the three rare Suffolk Breeds which have pride of place at the park entrance in Felixstowe Road, Ipswich.
The Suffolk Show is held on the last Wednesday and Thursday of May which this year will be the 28th and 29th. It used to be entirely a farming show but more recently seems to have adopted a more diverse programme. I think a favourite event is the showing of the heavy horses in the show ring.
