#30 Stillicide

DDW March Challenge #30 Stillicide

Stillicide refers to water falling in drops, especially from the eaves of a roof or in a cave. It is not related to -cide words like suicide or infanticide, instead having as its root the Latin verb caedere, meaning to fall. Stilla is from the Latin for 'a drop.' An old Scots law dealt with stillicide, and John Erskine had this to say about it in 1754: "No proprietor can build, so as to throw the rainwater falling from his own house immediately upon his neighbor's ground, without a special servitude, which is called of stillicide."

This is a birdhouse on our back porch, which I poured water over since it wasn't raining. :)

Thank you to DDW for the March challenge. Looking forward to your next one.
