Birthday Party

Up early and had a birthday cake baking in the oven by 7.30am!

Lots of pottering about and doing errands. Betsy and I took Charlie out for an epic walk. The park was very busy as it was such a lovely day and I was worried Charlie would biff a toddler off his scooter or crash through someone's picnic. Luckily this did not happen.

Someone had hired the cricket pavilion and all the doors were open. Charlie headed straight for it and even got half way up the steps. I imagined him belting through the party, causing chaos, darting under chairs and through legs, refusing to be caught, eventually bounding back out trailing a string of sausages like something out of Hairey McClarey. I clearly have a vivid imagination because I called him and he just came trotting back.

Later we had some friends over with their lovely children. It was Chris's birthday on Monday, and our friend Scott's a couple of weeks ago, so we decided turn it into a children's party celebration. We had balloons and streamers, party bags, sausages and chips and birthday cake.

We played charades and murder in the dark and had a pitch black treasure hunt which freaked the cat out and sounded like we were torturing the children. The neighbours must have been thrilled.

Anyway, it was brilliant fun.
